In an open letter to Rob Ford, Toronto Star editor Michael Cooke poses a number of questions:

1. Do you understand why this damning videotape requires a proper and thoughtful explanation?

2. Have you ever smoked crack cocaine?

3. How well do you know the men in the photograph that appeared on Friday’s front page? Did you know the man who was subsequently shot dead?

4. Did you refer to Justin Trudeau by a homosexual slur?

5. Did you refer to your football team as f—— minorities?

6. Will you call for a police investigation into these latest allegations?

I’ll never forget waking up to Rob Ford being elected as Mayor of Toronto. It conflicted with a lot of what I thought about the fifth largest city in North America, the most important city in Canada, a city that has taught me so much about what this country is, and a city that I love dearly. Fortunately Rob Ford’s vision of Toronto faced a lot of opposition, and the Mayor’s communications always fall victim to some unrelated event that he boondoggled.

Ultimately Ford has been nothing but a distraction. These allegations, whether they are true or not, are now the main event for the circus that has become Toronto City Hall. There is no way that any person can deal with this type of situation and run Toronto.

No matter how you look at it Mr. Ford has problems that he needs to deal with. I sincerely hope that he is able to deal with his problems. But the rest of the city’s citizens shouldn’t have to be burdened by Mr. Ford or his problems anymore.

Shoppers turn blind eye to Bangladesh tragedies as cheap clothes winIn the wake of disasters in Bangladesh garment factories that have claimed hundreds of lives in recent months, shoppers in the West have shown growing concern about worker safety in developing countries. As long as it doesn’t mean an end to bargains.“It bothers me, but a lot of retailers are getting their clothes from these places and I can’t see how I can change anything,” 21-year-old university student Elizabeth McNail said, clutching a brown paper bag from clothier Primark the day after a building collapse in Savar, Bangladesh, killed at least 381 people. “They definitely need to improve, but I’ll still shop here. It’s so cheap.” (Munir Uz Zaman/AFP/Getty Images)

Meanwhile, I’m considering never buying any new clothes again until we have some regulation in this country! It may take longer to find it, but I’m sure I can get all the causal clothes I need at a thrift store.

BC ELXN DB8

Don’t really follow #bcpoli but either Clark has no one clever working in her camp or she did nothing at all in 2 years. Leadership deficient effects all BC parties…except Green lady seems kind of nice.
